About Me
Hi, I’m Zach Tallent.
I run a solo illustration studio focused on comic books, cartoons and graphic novels.
I’ve been drawing since I was a kid growing up on a farm in Arkansas. There I learned from a young age the meaning of the words “look out.” After dodging angry geese and chasing runaway cows, I began sketching what I saw in nature. And I got better at it. One thing led to another and I decided to study art.
My Work
After getting a BFA or a Bachelors of Fine Arts, I turned to working as a freelance comic book artist and illustrator. I’ve since been published as the artist behind the graphic novel series QualityLand: Band 1.1 and 1.2, written by Marc-Uwe Kling and published by Voland & Quist. I’m working on other collaborations and commissions as well.
My Style
My style is best described as a blend of American comics and classic Walt Disney animation with a touch of manga and unique characters. I’m also known for semi-realistic art that is technical-leaning and deliberate. I value collaboration and really enjoy creating dynamic characters in creative settings.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does an author or a client work with you?
I use a collaborative process with the author to ensure we’re in sync. I first speak with the client to understand their vision and goals. I then create a few character design concepts, based on the themes, style and vision we discussed. The next stage is refining the chosen designs. I then finalize the illustrations and deliver artwork as scheduled until they’re completed. Revisions are included up to a point and I assist with printing preparation as well.
Did you study art in college?
Yes, I studied Fine Art at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
